Who Is Gary Killian?

What happens when you take a classic French-trained chef and plant him in the woods of Kentucky? When you mention terms like Croque Madame or Chateaubriand to your new country friends? Believe you, me… they tilt their heads like a puppy, look at you cross-eyed, and respond “Say What???”

My name is Gary Killian and I moved from the coast of Northern California to the deep woods of the South. I quickly learned that many of the dishes I was used to cooking were no longer available to me. What was once fresh salmon, cod, and seafood are now catfish, BBQ, and grits. While there is nothing wrong with this. I knew it was definitely time to adapt! Fortunately, being a trained chef, I have the ability to produce great-tasting food, no matter the situation.

Since the BBQ game is strong out here, I set my sights on producing a series of amazing seasonings, sauces, and rubs that are guaranteed to elevate your grilling game. My signature rub creates a great sweet and smokey flavor that is sure to please even the most finicky connoisseur. It’s truly amazing on most proteins including beef, pork, poultry, and salmon… taking flavors to a whole new level.

Creating a new seasoning, sauce, marinade, or rub is an exhilarating journey. Exploring various spices, flavors, and aromas through research opens up a world of possibilities for food. As I experiment with flavors and refine my recipes, the excitement builds. I live in a playground of creativity, as I balance smoky, tangy, sweet, and spicy elements to create something amazing... worthy of being called a Killian's Original

  1. The Concept

    This is where the magic begins! With an insatiable passion for all things grilled, I let my imagination run wild and dream up flavors that will make your taste buds dance. Will it be a tantalizing blend of smoky paprika and zesty garlic? Or perhaps a fiery mix of chili peppers and tangy lime? The possibilities are as endless.

  2. The Recipe

    This is where I let my inner Mad Scientist fly. Creating the perfect seasoning is a delicate art, combining both science and culinary finesse. In my quest for perfection lies infinite possibilities. A pinch more of this, a dash less of that... all while trying to find that delicate balance between ingredients until the harmony reaches its crescendo.

  3. The Creation

    Then it's testing, testing, and more testing as I prepare endless rounds of food (tough life, I know). Then, I solicit feedback from friends, colleagues, and potential customers. And when the final blend emerges, it’s like watching fireworks explode across your taste buds, leaving you craving more. A Killian's Original is born.
